How and Why To Teach Students To Play From Chords
Tues., July 12th -- 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
(Registration begins at 9:30am)
Join us for a Piano Teacher Workshop featuring Joel Knudsen, to be held at Senseney Music, Inc. The workshop is FREE, and is open to piano students, and all vocal and music students working toward their college piano proficiency exams.
Joel is a local pianist and music teacher who will introduce an easier method to learn and teach how to read from chord symbols -- "reading changes," to the jazz musician.
Joel says, "For well-trained musicians it is a marketable skill to be able to play a stylistically diverse repertoire. For students, it can accelerate learning substantially, and allow them different fun things to do musically."
Joel has been an instructor of music at Butler CC since 1998, teaching First Year Music Theory and Applied Piano, along with other music courses. He was the pianist for the Wichita Symphony from 1984 - 2016, and maintains an active private studio of piano students.
